It is my great honor and pleasure to host the 56th Annual Congress of the Japan Society of Perinatal and Neonatal Medicine (JSPNM) in Tokyo in 2020.
The 2020 meeting of JSPNM will be held jointly with the biennial meeting of the Federation of Asia and Oceania Perinatal Society (FAOPS), chaired by Prof. Mamoru Tanaka, as a novel collaborative trial of global networking. I fervently hope that the meeting provides an opportunity to forward global cooperation in this field. The main topic of the JSPNM 2020 Annual Meeting is “Prenatal Diagnosis and Intervention.” Prenatal diagnosis continues to bring both cheer and despair in a clinical setting of perinatal medicine, despite the tremendous progress achieved in related technologies. Little is known about prenatal clinical courses and pathophysiology pertaining to most congenital diseases, which makes the practical indications of prenatal intervention unclear. Experiences from all over the world can be accumulated and shared now.
Tokyo has a very convenient transport infrastructure, large capacity for accommodation, and good security for visitors. We aim to take advantage of these merits of Tokyo and prepare an easy-to-attend and enjoyable meeting for everyone, including young colleagues from abroad.
I wish that many people would attend the 2020 Tokyo joint meeting of JSPNM and FAOPS and enjoy the highest quality of science in perinatology, neonatology, and pediatric surgery. We look forward to welcoming you.
