Welcome Message

Prof. Mamoru Tanaka

Welcome to the 21st Congress of the Federation of Asian and Oceania Perinatal Societies (FAOPS) in Tokyo. All of us are very excited about hosting the Congress in 2020 just after the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Japan has long been leading the field of perinatal and neonatal medicine, and we wish to contribute to our society by sharing cutting-edge technology in fetal treatment, in which Japan has an impressive low perinatal mortality rate. Also, since the Japanese medical society, as a whole, is fostering growth in stem cell research and regenerative medicine, we will be able to share the integrated results of the stem cell research and progress in the field of perinatal and neonatal medicine.

The 21st Congress of FAOPS will be held jointly with the 56th Japan Society of Perinatal and Neonatal Medicine (JSPNM) Annual Congress and the Symposium of Preterm Birth International Collaborative Australasian (PREBIC-AA 2020). We really hope that the doctors and health care workers who are striving to save mothers and babies will get together at the Congress and develop a good relationship.

Japan joined FAOPS in 1980, and in 2020 we will celebrate 40 years of being its proud member. With more than 9,100 members, the Japan Society of Perinatal and Neonatal Medicine is one of the largest societies in the world. We assure you of our strong commitment to making every aspect of the Congress a resounding success.

Tokyo is ready and waiting for you!
We are looking forward to seeing you at the Congress of FAOPS 2020.
